How to Send Files from iPhone to Android — Free, No Cable, No App

· 2 min read

AirDrop is built for Apple devices and Quick Share for Android and Windows, so between an iPhone and most Android phones neither works out of the box. Emailing files to yourself shrinks photos, cloud drives make you upload everything first, and cables need the right adapter.

DirectFileTransfer runs in the browser you already have. The iPhone sends from Safari, the Android phone receives in Chrome, and the files go straight from one phone to the other.

Send from iPhone to Android in three steps

  1. On the iPhone, open directfiletransfer.com in Safari and tap Send Files. Choose the photos, videos or documents.
  2. Tap Continue. A code and a link appear on the iPhone.
  3. On the Android phone, point the camera at the code (or open the link in Chrome) and accept. The files arrive straight from the iPhone.

Keep the page open on the iPhone until the Android phone says the files have arrived.

Do both phones need the internet?

Yes — the website needs the internet on both phones to connect them. When both are on the same Wi‑Fi, the files themselves travel over that Wi‑Fi and never leave your home, which is also the fastest way. If one phone is on mobile data, the files go over the internet and use data.

Is it private?

The files are end-to-end encrypted and go directly between the two phones. They are not uploaded to a cloud drive and our servers never see what is inside them.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. Both phones use the website — nothing to install and no sign-up to start.

Sending the other way, from Android to iPhone?

It works the same way in reverse: on the Android phone open directfiletransfer.com, tap Send Files, choose the files and tap Continue, then scan the code with the iPhone camera.
