DirectFileTransfer is built on a simple principle: your files are your business. We never see, store, or have access to the files you transfer.

Zero-Knowledge Architecture

Files transfer directly between devices using WebRTC peer-to-peer connections. Our server only facilitates the initial connection (signaling) — once the peer-to-peer link is established, all data flows directly between devices with end-to-end encryption. When a network blocks every direct path, the transfer falls back to an encrypted relay that carries the bytes and cannot decrypt them.

What We Don't Collect

• File contents — never uploaded to, stored on, or readable by our servers

What We Do Log

• Transfer metadata for reliability: file name, size, type, status, duration, and the IP address, browser and OS of each side. Kept 90 days, then deleted.
• Device and app events (discovery, errors, app launches). Kept 30 days.
• Nearby and same-Wi-Fi transfers on the phone app report the same metadata when the phone has internet; with no internet, nothing is reported.
• If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo. Sign-in is optional — nearby and same-Wi-Fi sharing work without it.
