About DirectFileTransfer

DirectFileTransfer is a free peer-to-peer file sharing service that uses WebRTC to send files directly between devices. Unlike cloud-based services, your files never touch our servers — they go straight from sender to receiver with end-to-end encryption.

Why Direct Transfer Instead of Cloud Upload?

Traditional file sharing services like WeTransfer, Google Drive, and Dropbox upload your files to their servers before the recipient can download them. This creates privacy risks, speed bottlenecks, and file size restrictions. DirectFileTransfer eliminates the middleman — your files travel directly from one device to the other.

Technology: WebRTC

Built on WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication), the same technology that powers video calls in your browser. WebRTC enables direct device-to-device connections with built-in DTLS encryption. When both devices are on the same network, transfers happen at LAN speed without ever leaving your local network.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

DirectFileTransfer works on any device with a modern web browser — iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Windows PCs, Macs, Linux, and ChromeOS. No app installation needed. It's the easiest way to send files between iPhone and Android, or Mac and Windows.
