How to Send Files from Android to a Windows PC — Free, No Cable, No App

· 2 min read

Quick Share and Phone Link both need an app installed and set up on the PC first. Cables work, but only with the right cable and a trip through File Explorer.

DirectFileTransfer runs in the browser you already have. The Android phone sends from Chrome, the PC receives in Edge or Chrome, and the files go straight from one to the other.

Send from Android to Windows PC in three steps

  1. On the Android phone, open directfiletransfer.com in Chrome and tap Send Files. Choose the photos, videos or documents.
  2. Tap Continue. A code, a link and a PIN appear on the Android phone.
  3. On the PC, open directfiletransfer.com and type the PIN (it works for 15 minutes), or open the link if you sent it to yourself. Accept, and the files arrive straight from the Android phone.

Keep the page open on the Android phone until the PC says the files have arrived.

Do both devices need the internet?

Yes — the website needs the internet on both devices to connect them. When both are on the same Wi‑Fi or home network, the files themselves travel over that network and never leave your home, which is also the fastest way. If one of them is on mobile data, the files go over the internet and use data.

Is it private?

The files are end-to-end encrypted and go directly between the two devices. They are not uploaded to a cloud drive and our servers never see what is inside them.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. Both devices use the website — nothing to install and no sign-up to start.

Sending the other way, from Windows PC to Android?

It works the same way in reverse: on the PC open directfiletransfer.com, click Send Files, choose the files and click Continue, then scan the code with the Android phone’s camera.
